Jibon Health Technologies, Inc. is a social enterprise founded by a group of young professionals driven to solve global health problems through creative engineering. In the two years since founding, Jibon has seen critical acclaim and international press for their efforts to bring an end to postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) throughout the developing world with Tampostat™, a low-cost emergency obstetric device designed for use by midwives and traditional birth attendants.
The Jibon Health team consists of recent college graduates with unique backgrounds in biomedical engineering research, public health fieldwork, product development, and marketing. A board of expert advisors are helping to navigate the professional landscape and have established connections for business development both in the United States and abroad in countries most in need of this life-saving technology. With upcoming business development trips to China and Bangladesh, Jibon is excited to be working toward realizing its goal of affordable and simple healthcare solutions for all.

Mikail Kamal

Mikail, an aspiring doctor and a native of Bangladesh, graduated from Columbia University with a dual degree in Biomedical Engineering and Mathematics. His extensive clinical and research experience, including working at one of the world’s leading stem cell tissue engineering labs, has allowed him to establish invaluable connections in both industry and medicine. Mikail has a fond love of osteopathic medicine and is currently pursuing his D.O. at TouroCOM.
Marissa Dreyer

Marissa helped establish Jibon's first project Tampostat while studying at Columbia University. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, she pursued research and development of cutting edge biomedical technologies for premier hospitals across the United States and Europe.
She then pursued a master's degree in bioenvironmental engineering. But the mission of Jibon Health has always captivated her heart, and she is back using her experience with technical design and scientific writing to implement sustainable and accessible healthcare technologies.
Anthony Elder

Anthony Elder is a design and branding specialist from Brooklyn, New York with a BA in Design from Fordham University. His creative work can be found in many forms including branding, illustration, product design, and graphic design for clients across many industries. He is excited to take the creative lead on a project with such potential for positive worldwide impact and honored to be solving problems alongside such a brilliant team of young engineers.
Mahtab Alam

Mahtab recently graduated from Macaulay Honors College at the City College of New York with a degree in biomedical engineering and is currently a graduate student at Boston University. Mahtab would like to use his background in BME to design low-cost and easy to use medical devices for developing countries. At Jibon, he has the opportunity to combine his interest in medical devices and knowledge of imaging technologies to design exciting new products.
Mohammad Zaryab

Mohammad is an avid software developer with B.E and M.S degrees in Electrical Engineering from Macaulay Honors College (City) and Columbia University, respectively. His interests span hot topics like deep learning, big data, optics and networks. His aim is to use technology to address real world issues; and in the field of biotech, he has done research in improving cardiac ablation surgeries using machine learning, and aiding navigation of the visually impaired using computer vision.
Jeff Kowalczyk

Jeff is an experienced Manager of Software Development in the renewable energy sector. His expertise in operating systems, secure networks, databases and application development for mobile platforms, comes in handy when guiding Jibon’s projects forward from the prototyping stage to production. Jeff has made significant contributions on Jibon’s technical front and in project management.
Sejal Khan

Sejal graduated from Union College with a B.S. in Neuroscience and Philosophy and is currently working towards a M.S. in Biomedical Sciences from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is interested in biomedical sciences, as well as health policy and systematic approaches to improving healthcare. He joins the team to help manage and write grant applications to seek out further funding for current projects.

Dr. Fatema Ashraf

Dr. Ashraf (M.B.B.S., F.C.P.S.) is a Professor (CC) of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital. She supervises Jibon's operations in Bangladesh and heads the clinical team. Dr. Ashraf has worked closely on various maternal health projects of Govt. aided by UNICEF and UNFPA. She is the founding member of AROHEE (A Rural Organization for Health, Education and Environment), a grassroots maternal health organization.
Dr. Aaron Kyle

Dr. Aaron M. Kyle, Ph.D., is a renowned Lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University. He has extensive experience in developing low-cost devices for use in low-resource settings, specifically in Uganda. At Jibon, Dr. Kyle works closely with the engineering team and provides technical guidance.
Dr. Aminur Shaheen

Dr. Aminur Shaheen is a OB/ GYN and works as a research scientist at icddr,b. His clinical expertise is closely linked with his research career– allowing him to investigate research questions from a clinical perspective and have a dynamic understanding of the problem at hand.

John is a biomedical engineer from Columbia University, with a research background in biomechanics and physiology. After John and Mikail earned the 2012 Capstone Award for Best Design Project, they co-founded Jibon Health. John's skills in 3D modeling and medical device engineering helped turn Jibon's Tampostat design into reality.
Jason Kang

Jason earned a bachelors in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University. With over six years of biology research experience, he aspires to combine his love for engineering with his strong background in biology and medicine, to create devices that will improve the health status of the world. Jason has previously interned on the technical team at Transcriptic and is a Co-Founder of Kinnos. He was recognized in Forbes 30 under 30 in 2016.
